Update, Update, Update!!! Missy has found a forever home! Thanks Monty Teiss of Hockley, Tx for opening your pasture and heart to her!
This young filly was sold in June 2012, her owners then sold her as a two year old due to personal reasons. Her then new owner contacted our ranch in November 2013 advising me that while they was trying, they felt they could not properly care for her and was overwelmed at the thought of training a young horse. Since we stand by all our foals, we rescued this filly from the situation she found herself in. While we don't know what happened with her at either home, she was very thin and stunted when we picked her up. She had not grown much since she left here as a yearling. She was pastured with another mare who was bullying her and I am sure was stealing what little feed she was getting. This is the reason our ranch feeds all our horses separately.
Currently this filly is 2 1/2 yrs old, she stands around 14.1 hands and is about 650 to 700 lbs. We are slowly building her weight up, she is still growing so she may get a little taller and will be much more stout once we get her to where she should be. We did evaluate her and was happy to see she remembered all her manners, is still very loving and trusting. She remembers all her ground training, leads, loads, moves over when asked at the shoulder and hip, is pretty good about picking up her hooves, stands for grooming and stands tied very well. All she is lacking is weight and saddle training. We are working her on weight issue first. She is available for adoption currently to an approved home. As she gains weight and as her training increases, her adoption fee will increase.
We are not looking to make a profit on this filly. I own her sire, he is listed on our stallions page and shown below. I didn't need another horse or mouth to feed, but could not leave her in the situation she was in. Her adoption fee is only covering our expenses in her thus far. She is current on all shots, wormer, farrier trim and has a current recent coggins. She will come with her APHA registration papers. They will need to be submitted to APHA to have her transferred to your name. If you can offer her a loving home with lots of feed, hay and hugs. Please do contact me!
